Here's why I started them.


I've been watching what's happening out there. Groceries. Childcare. The general weight of everyday day life right now. And I kept thinking about the mamas I know who want photos of their families, their bump, this chapter, but keep putting it off because a full session feels like too big a lift right now. Financially. Logistically. All of it.


So I created Monday Minis. One Monday a month, right here at SlateStudio, I open five spots for maternity, family, and milestone sessions. Come casual. Come dressed up. Come as you are.


We'll figure it out together.

What Are Monday Minis? (And Who Are They For?)

Monday Minis are shorter mini photography sessions held exclusively at SlateStudio in East Troy. Each month I open exactly five spots on a Monday for maternity, family, and milestone sessions.


A few situations where minis work really well: a mama who's 30-something weeks pregnant and just wants a few timeless images before baby arrives. A family with a toddler who's got maybe 20 minutes of good behavior in them on any given afternoon. A mama who wants updated family photos but doesn't need a 90-minute session to feel like she got what she came for.


Just so you know what's included: Monday Minis are for maternity, family, and milestone sessions only. Newborn sessions and extended family sessions aren't available as minis since those genuinely need more time to do them right.

What Does a Monday Mini Session Actually Look Like?


You show up. That's honestly the hardest part.


The studio is set up and ready. If you've accessed the client closet, your outfits are hanging and waiting. We'll spend a few minutes just getting comfortable in the space, especially if you're bringing little ones. No rush, no rigid pose list. I work from what's happening naturally in the room.


Sessions can be casual and relaxed, think comfy neutrals and bare feet on the studio floor, or a little more dressed up if you want that polished look for a holiday card or a big family announcement. Either way, we're going to get you images that feel like your real life at this exact moment in time.


Because these are studio-only sessions, the lighting is consistent and controlled, which means beautiful images regardless of what Wisconsin weather is doing outside on a Monday.

Why Studio Only? Why Monday?


Honestly, it came down to wanting to give every mini session client the same beautiful, calm experience. The studio handles the variables. You don't have to worry about finding a location, dealing with wind, or chasing kids through a field. You walk in, the space is ready, and we focus on your family.


Mondays work because they're quiet. Most families have their weekend behind them and a whole week ahead. There's something really grounding about starting the week by doing something just for yourself and your family.

How Do I Book a Monday Mini Session?

If you're looking for a newborn or extended family session, those are booked separately as full sessions.
